reluctant...but, what the heck

I have resisted starting a blog for some time now, but I think the time has come.  I see it as a way to record our daily life for years to come, a way to hand down memories to our children.  So many things happen on a daily basis that are precious and fleeting, and what a better way to record those things...sigh, here I go.
