As part of my promise to myself, I got up and ...gasp... exercised this morning. I am not really trying to shed pounds, but rather firm up the flab that has found its way to my body from my wonderful indulgences over the past few months. (This means from about mid-October until last Friday, I was a wild woman who ate what she wanted. Bad Morgan!)
I had decided that the best course for me is to work at home, because let's face it, the stay at home moms out there know that there is little to no time for the gym and with Ned gone a bit this month, I am on my own.
So, I prepped Mar this morning over our healthy breakfast of egg pizza, and told her we would dance today! (Translated: my new Dancing With the Start Cardio Fat Blast DVD) She was pumped. Off she went to get her leotard and tights...
Here is to a healthy and active New Year with my new workout accountability partner!
I also wanted to share a fantastic quote that is my new mom mantra this week. I found this on one of the many Mom blogs that I follow. Hope it brings your day and parenting into perspective like it did mine!
“I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous.
I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration, I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis is escalated or de-escalated, and a person is humanized or de-humanized.
If we treat people as they are, we make them worse. If we treat people as they ought to be, we help them become what they are capable of becoming.”
-Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
